Matet on Nora: It was Ate Lotlot who became my de facto mom

by Athena Yap

MATET de Leon vents out anew after a rift with Superstar mom Nora Aunor in an interview with Ogie Diaz last Monday, December 12.

The tension between the mother and daughter continues to rise even more especially after their apparent business competition.

Last December 4, Matet expressed her frustration on an Instagram post over her mom venturing to a gourmet business supposedly competing with her brand.

“All of a sudden, nagulat na lang ako, naglabas ang nanay ko ng direktang kumpitensya ng produkto ko. Alam niyang may produkto akong ganyan,” she wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post.

Following the issue, Matet revealed past issues which added fuel to the fire between her and mom Nora

She said it is not only because of business rivalry but also due to “addiction accusations” thrown against the superstar. She said she was the one who defended her mom to her bashers saying she was an addict.

Matet said with what happened, she is persistent that she will no longer speak with her mother anymore.

“Hindi ko na siya [mom] kakausapin ulit, Ogie,” Matet said.

“Tuwing aawayin siya ng mga tao, tatawagin siyang “adik”, ginaganon siya ng mga tao, ang sakit sa’kin nun,” she added.

She noted that she would reply to mean comments regardless of how “squammy” it may seem.

“Ako una-unang sumusuporta sa’yo. Ako ang unang-una, tapos ganito?” she said.

Matet also said she is wondering how her mom seemed to have betrayed her.

“Hindi ko alam pano niya nagawa sa akin to.”

Consequently, netizens believe that Matet has “no sense of gratitude” after Nora Aunor and then-partner Christopher adopted and took care of her and her siblings.

However, Matet said she is aware of the backlash and criticisms from netizens when she fumed her emotions online.

“Kahit na anuhin na kami, hindi kami papalag? Kahit mali hindi kami magsasalita?” she said.

Following that, she added that it was not her mother (Nora) who intended to adopt her and it was her sister, Lotlot de Leon, who stood up as a mother to her.

“Hindi choice ni mommy na amupunin ako at ang ate ko, ang inampon niya lang talaga ay si[na] Kiko at Ken, hindi kami,” she said.

Surprisingly, she also said that there is another national artist who watched over them, but she did not mention names because she doesn’t want to drag the others to the issue anymore.
